Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships Overview
For international students, the Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships are a fully supported fellowship. The fellowship lasts for two years, with a potential one-year extension. The Fellowships include a stipend, health insurance, and other benefits in a highly attractive package.
Upon completion, the top fellows will also be qualified to apply for ICGEB Early Career Research Grants to finance their own research programmes as junior principal investigators once they return to an ICGEB Member State.
The ICGEB Arturo Falaschi Fellowship Programmes are five different types of long and short-term PhD and Postdoctoral awards available to scientists who are nationals of ICGEB Member States to conduct research in Trieste, New Delhi, or Cape Town. They are named in honour of Prof. Arturo Falaschi, the brain and driving force of the Centre at its inception.

Scholarship Coverage
As an Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellow, you’ll receive:
- Monthly Stipend:
- Trieste, Italy: Euro 2,000
- New Delhi, India: US$ 1,590
- Cape Town, South Africa: ZAR 18,750
- Travel Support:
- Travel expenses to the ICGEB lab at the start of your fellowship
- Return travel provision upon completion
- Medical Health Insurance: Coverage throughout your fellowship duration
- Research Funding: All research costs covered by the research group’s budget
- Visa/Permit Assistance: Reimbursement for application and renewal costs
- Meeting and Course Participation: Generally provided by the Group Leader / PI
- Accommodation:
- ICGEB Trieste: Housing service available through the Welcome Office – Friuli Venezia Giulia
- ICGEB New Delhi: Twin-share Guest House on campus at a nominal rate
- ICGEB Cape Town: Accommodation support arranged prior to arrival
To be eligible for the Arturo Falaschi Postdoctoral Fellowships, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English is required.
- Nationality: Applicants must be nationals of an ICGEB Member State and may not apply for fellowships in their country of origin unless they have worked abroad for at least the past 3 years at the time of application.
- Educational Background: Holders of a recent PhD in Life Sciences.
- Research Experience: A minimum of 3 years of research experience.
- Age Preference: Candidates under the age of 35 are given preference.
