Bachelor of Data Science Student Year 1 Experience

SP Jain School of Global Management’s Bachelor of Data Science uses classroom learning to build a theoretical foundation, then connects it with research and internships. In Year 1, the student describes work that included research experience at IIT Bombay and using large-scale datasets and security analytics tools. The student also describes exploring data science applications in areas such as finance and digital payments, plus work tied to cybersecurity.

For delivery, the experience described combines classes with experiential learning beyond the classroom. The student worked on research at IIT Bombay and completed an internship at IIT Bombay’s TrustLab, focusing on implementation of Agentic AI in cybersecurity. They also describe hands-on exposure to data-driven decision-making by identifying patterns in large volumes of information and using these outputs for evidence-based decisions.
