The Bachelor of Fashion Design at TAFE NSW is a three-year professional degree. Students learn through theory and practical course work to create design concepts through pattern-making and garment construction, produce fashion illustrations using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software and Adobe Creative Suite, and use sustainable strategies for creative fashion design.
Teaching combines studio units and industry-focused practice. Students study core units and additional specialty units, and complete a mandatory work placement/internship. In the final year, students create and present a collection of work at the graduate showcase and have a professional portfolio for prospective employers.
The degree is designed to prepare graduates to work as fashion managers and designers, including roles such as fashion manager, design manager, fashion merchandiser, fashion buyer, and stylist.
