The Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber and Network Security) at TAFE NSW prepares you to work as a cyber-security specialist. You gain a foundation in network design, administration and security, focusing on critical analysis and problem-solving to analyse security risks and apply mechanisms and policies to secure networks.

TAFE NSW combines theory and practical course work. The course develops skills to solve cyber and network security problems in complex environments, conduct ICT research in cyber and network security, and communicate cyber and network security ideas to different audiences. It also includes collaboration as an ICT cyber and network security professional in a range of environments.

Course outcomes include core skills for employment as a network security specialist and the ability to sit for recognised industry certifications such as Cisco, CCNA and CCNP.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

You must demonstrate that you have achieved one of the following: A NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent as evidenced by a certified copy of your certificate or transcript OR A Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation or its equivalent as evidenced by a certified copy of your certificate or transcript OR A completed certificate IV or higher vocational qualification as evidenced by a certified copy of your certificate or transcript

• Submit a 500-word essay that shows your motivation to study and work in the information technology industry
• Attend a pre-admission interview where you may also be asked to complete a short literacy and numeracy task - this helps us to understand how we can support your study success and provide you with any necessary support
• Have mathematics knowledge to HSC level or equivalent before entering this course, or you may be required to undertake a bridging program or preparatory course
• Your certificates, transcripts and other entry requirement evidence must be certified through a Justice of the Peace or other authorising officer
