TAFE NSW’s Bachelor of Interior Design HE20501 prepares you to use knowledge of how people interact with spaces to create interior design projects. The course combines concept creation and project management, with learning outcomes that include applying creative methods to design innovative interiors and interpreting design briefs to meet client needs.
You learn through a mix of theory and practical course work, including studios and units such as Visual communication, Design processes, Spatial design, Construction and detailing, and Professional Practice. You use Computer Aided Design (CAD) and three-dimensional Building Information Modelling (BIM) software to communicate interior design plans, and you undertake mandatory work placement for 70 hours, arranged by TAFE NSW.
Course outcomes include graduating with a bachelor’s degree, building a professional portfolio, and gaining professional networking opportunities through work placement. The course also provides eligibility to be admitted to the Design Institute of Australia (DIA) at the Associate Member level.
