TAFE NSW’s Diploma of Apparel, Fashion and Textiles (Business) (MST50122-03) helps you learn fashion business skills alongside design-focused work. You study consumer analysis and buyer behaviour, marketing and social media for textiles, clothing and footwear (TCF), and how to work with local and international supply chains. You also develop and present design concepts in response to project briefs, using technology to support concept development.

Learning is delivered through a mixture of theory and practical course work. The program includes work that covers developing and presenting design concepts, researching and analysing textile materials, and networking with professionals in the fashion industry. Assessment includes tasks you complete independently, and you submit evidence to your teacher during study. You complete 25 units of competency, made up of 9 core and 16 speciality units.

Career pathways listed by TAFE NSW include assistant designer, assistant buyer, assistant production manager, marketing assistant, and junior PR manager. The qualification is nationally accredited at Diploma level. TAFE NSW also states that you can apply for recognition of prior learning or a credit transfer to potentially get your qualification faster.
