TAFE NSW’s Diploma of Business (BSB50120-01) helps you build business skills to become an executive assistant, office manager, or project administrator. You also study quality assurance, compliance and auditing, plus a focus area that you can choose depending on your campus, such as marketing, human resources (HR), or operations.

The course uses a mix of theory and practical work. You complete 12 units of competency, including 5 core units and 7 specialty units. You cover topics such as workplace sustainability policies, budget and financial information, developing business resource tracking systems, and critical and creative thinking support. Depending on the campus, not all specialty units are available.

There are no entry requirements of this course.

Traineeship: You must be employed as a trainee in the industry. Your Apprenticeship Connect Australia Provider (ACAP) must submit your Training Proposal Plan (TPP).

Entry recommendations: a Certificate IV in Business or a similar qualification; experience working in different workplaces, especially in senior support roles; access to a computer with a reliable internet connection; basic skills in Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel and PowerPoint); empathy, patience and the ability to support others; good organisational skills and the ability to manage more than one task; Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 12 high school level. Note: TAFE NSW may ask you to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test.
