TAFE NSW offers the Diploma of Financial Counselling (CHC51122-01). Students learn culturally sensitive approaches to work productively and ethically with clients, with a focus on supporting people to improve their financial health. Learning outcomes include helping clients understand legal and financial rights and supporting counselling through financial decision-making.
The course combines theory and practical coursework. Students complete 220 hours of work placement with a suitable employer. To complete the qualification, students must successfully complete 17 units of competency, including 13 core and 4 specialty units.
This course leads to career pathways including roles such as financial counsellor and rural financial counsellor.
