Diploma of Information Technology Game Art and Design Ict50220

The Diploma of Information Technology (Game Art and Design) at TAFE NSW prepares you to become a games artist or games designer and developer. You learn to create design concepts for digital games and 3D media, design and create models for 3D and digital effects environments, animate 3D characters, and create interactive 3D environments. You also learn to apply Intellectual Property (IP), ethics and privacy in ICT environments and manage client problems.

The course uses a mixture of theory and practical course work. It covers core and specialty units, with successful completion of 20 units of competency, including 6 core and 14 speciality units. Core units include originate and develop concepts, promote workplace cyber security awareness and best practices, and manage client problems. Specialty units include creating and implementing designs for 3-D games environments and animate 3-D characters for digital games.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

• A Certificate IV in Information Technology (Gaming Development) or its equivalent, as evidenced by a copy of your transcript, or
• That you have the appropriate skills and knowledge in developing 3D games and drawing game art, as evidenced by a teacher-assessed interview. We will contact you to arrange a suitable time for your interview.

During your study you'll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence: A Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test and achieve a score of 4 across the five bands of literacy and 4 across one band of numeracy. This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs and to provide you with the appropriate support for your study success.
