The Diploma of Information Technology (HE20626) is a higher education qualification from TAFE NSW that prepares students for employment in entry-level roles in the Information Technology (IT) industry. Students gain introductory knowledge in computing, programming, databases, and internetworking, plus critical thinking and communication skills for IT professional work.
Learning mixes theory and practical course work. Core units include Introduction to Cyber Security, Internetworking 1 and 2, Introduction to Programming, Communication for the IT Professional, Introduction to Databases, Virtualisation, and Professional Issues in IT. Students also complete practical skills such as using physical networking equipment and network simulators, setting up and deploying virtual machines, and writing business and technical reports and presentations.
On completion, students graduate with a higher education diploma and become eligible to receive advanced standing in the Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber and Network Security) or the Bachelor of Information Technology (Data Engineering).
