Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services Cua50425

The Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (TAFE NSW) builds practical and technical skills for work behind the scenes in festivals, theatres and events. Learners cover managing production projects, maintaining safe creative practice, managing bump in and bump out of shows, and managing live audio front of house, monitor systems and wireless audio, plus operating lighting and vision systems for live performance.

TAFE NSW states the course uses a mixture of theory and practical course work. The qualification is nationally accredited at diploma level and requires successful completion of 15 units of competency, including 4 core units and 11 specialty units. Completion also includes providing evidence to the teacher during study.

TAFE NSW says the course is for learners who have evidence of previous experience or study before enrolment, either a Certificate IV transcript or an interview to confirm an equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience. The course prepares learners to function professionally with technical support in a creative environment.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

• A Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services as evidenced by a copy of your transcript, or
• Attend an interview with our teaching staff to determine you have a level of knowledge, skills and experience in the live production industry equivalent to the Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services.

Entry recommendations: To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have a patient attitude and the ability to alternate between intense periods of work and lengthy periods of waiting; the ability to occasionally attend rehearsals, functions, and live performances outside of class hours if needed, potentially on evenings and/or weekends; please note that course work includes lifting, carrying and connecting live production equipment; and Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level. TAFE NSW may ask you to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test.
