TAFE NSW offers the Diploma of Music (Business) to help you learn how to lead in the music industry. You study artist management planning, promotion across social, mainstream, radio and podcasting, coordination of tours and industry events, project funding, and how to identify and monetise projects. The course combines theory with practical course work.

Course delivery includes the completion of 16 units of competency, made up of 4 core units and 12 specialty units. Core units include Manage copyright arrangements, Provide freelance services, Enhance professional practice using creative arts industry knowledge, and Develop and implement own self-care plan in the creative industries. The course also includes specialty units such as Develop social media engagement plans and Coordinate touring arrangements. Completion requires submitting evidence to your teacher, including an LLN skills test.

This course is suitable if you can show evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol. Entry is through successful completion of the Certificate III in Music (Business), Certificate IV in Music (Business), or an equivalent qualification, or through equivalent industry experience shown by a resume and portfolio. An interview via an online video platform such as Zoom or Teams is also an option.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

• Successful completion of the Certificate III in Music (Business) or Certificate IV in Music (Business) or an equivalent qualification, shown by a copy of your certificate or transcript, or
• equivalent industry experience in music (business), shown by your resume and a portfolio of work, or
• attend an interview via an online video platform such as Zoom or Teams.

During your study you'll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence: A Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test and achieve a score of 4 across the 5 bands of literacy and 3 across one band of numeracy. This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs and to provide you with the appropriate support for your study success.
