TAFE NSW’s Diploma of Music (Creation and Composition) builds production and musical skills to create beats, songs, and compositions. You learn to make beats and produce music, manipulate sounds, and compose and arrange music using technology, including interactive performance tools such as Ableton Push Controllers, CDJs, and laptops.

Learning combines theory and practical course work. The qualification requires successfully completing 16 units of competency, including 16 core and 4 speciality units, and outcomes include a collection of your own completed tracks and experience using music-production software to produce fresh sounds.

The course prepares you for opportunities in recording artist and producer roles, including pathways listed for recording artist, electronic music producer, songwriter, composer, and beatmaker.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

• A Certificate III in Music (Creation and Composition) as evidenced by a copy of your transcript, OR
• The ability to demonstrate skills, knowledge and experience equivalent to a Certificate III in Music in an interview with a TAFE NSW music teacher. We will contact you to arrange a suitable time.
