Diploma of Music Sound Production Cua50825

The Diploma of Music (Sound Production) at TAFE NSW is designed to develop skills in recording engineering and audio production. Students learn to record, edit and mix audio, engineer and produce studio recording, and create and arrange music using music software. The course also covers audio post-production work for podcasts, film and television, and copyright arrangements through units such as Manage copyright arrangements (CUACMP511), Provide freelance services (CUAIND412), and Enhance professional practice using creative arts industry knowledge (CUAIND512).

TAFE NSW delivers the qualification through a mixture of theory and practical course work. In the Diploma of Music (Sound Production), students complete 16 units of competency, including 4 core units and 12 specialty units. Completion includes studio recording experience, live sound experience, and computer-based production, plus teacher-provided evidence during study, and required assessment through a teacher-assessed interview when applicable.

This course is for applicants who can show previous experience or study, or who can demonstrate the required music skills and knowledge through a teacher-assessed interview. TAFE NSW also lists career pathways into roles such as recording engineer and post-production editor.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

• Successful completion of the Certificate III in Music (Sound Production) or the Certificate IV in Music (Sound Production) or its equivalent as shown by a copy of your transcript, or
• The ability to demonstrate you have the required music skills and knowledge as evaluated by a teacher-assessed interview. We will contact you to discuss the requirements of the interview and arrange a suitable time.
