Diploma of Surveying Cpp50121

The Diploma of Surveying at TAFE NSW refines surveying skills and knowledge for leadership roles in the surveying and spatial information services sector. Students learn to contribute to data collection and data enquiry, and to the design and drafting of survey, engineering, environmental, cartographic and cadastral maps and plans. The course includes precise measurements, specialised surveying equipment use, and analysis and presentation of results to required survey practice standards.

Students study through a mix of theory and practical coursework. To achieve the qualification, competency must be demonstrated in 16 units of competency, with 8 core units and 8 elective units. Learning outcomes include planning spatial data collection, conducting GNSS surveys, conducting engineering and geodetic surveys, and performing complex and geodetic surveying computations. Students also design basic engineering structures and use Computer-Aided Drawing (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
