Diploma of Visual Arts Cua51125

TAFE NSW’s Diploma of Visual Arts develops drawing and painting skills. You may also explore printmaking, sculpture, photography, and ceramics. The course focuses on combining technical, creative, and conceptual skills to plan and realise your ideas.

Students complete a mix of theory and practical course work. Learning outcomes include refining drawing using visual tools, realising and presenting a body of creative work through studio practice, and analysing cultural history and theory. The Diploma of Visual Arts requires successful completion of 15 units of competency: 5 core and 10 specialty units.

The course is for people who can show previous experience or study before enrolment, or show relevant creative practice through a portfolio that includes experience in drawing and an understanding of colour theory. Completion leads to a nationally accredited diploma-level qualification.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol.

• Successful completion of the Certificate III in Visual Arts, shown by a copy of your transcript or certificate, or
• successful completion of a NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC), shown by your Year 12 certificate or transcript, or
• relevant creative practice, demonstrated through a portfolio that shows experience in drawing and an understanding of colour theory.
