ANU Australian Government Research Training Program (AGRTP) Stipend Scholarship

The Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Education and Training, which provides funding to universities to award scholarships to domestic and international students undertaking higher degree research programs. ANU conducts central scholarship rounds that include the RTP.

Selection covers domestic and international postgraduate research (HDR) candidates. When applying for admission to an HDR program, candidates can select to be considered for RTP. Current candidates are considered only if they submit the required request form for current ANU students to be considered for an HDR scholarship.

Candidates are ranked through a competitive ranking process based on academic merit. Awarding is also subject to evidence of meeting merit-based selection criteria, confirmation of a qualified supervisor, space and resources being available, and research alignment with ANU research strategy.

Scholarship payments are made fortnightly for a total duration indicated on the page. Continuation is based on academic performance, with a 6 month extension available. Additional support includes travel and removal allowances, a thesis allowance, dependant child allowance for international students, and paid medical, maternity and parental leave, plus OSHC reimbursement under the RTP Fee Offset benefit for international recipients who apply.
