The ANU PhD Scholarship is a stipend scholarship offered by ANU Colleges for Higher Degree by Research candidates at Australian National University. ANU expects recipients to undertake study on a full-time basis; however, domestic candidates may be awarded for part-time study where strict criteria are met, while international candidates must study full-time. The field of study is listed as “All.”

The scholarship applies to domestic and international students enrolled in postgraduate research (HDR) at the PhD or Professional Doctorate by Research level. Selection is based on academic merit. Applicants are eligible if they have applied for admission to a PhD or Professional Doctorate by Research program and have a Bachelor degree with first-class honours (some Colleges may consider upper second-class honours) or a Master degree with a research component or equivalent from a recognised university.

Continuation of the scholarship is based on academic performance. The conditions also allow a 3 months extension, with a 6 months extension for Indigenous candidates or those with an industry engagement of >60 FTE days.

Payments are made for 3.5 years, with payments made fortnightly. The scholarship includes travel and removal allowances for students relocating to Canberra to commence their research program, a thesis allowance, dependant child allowance for international students, and paid medical and parental leave. ANU indicates that no application is required specifically for this scholarship as all eligible candidates will be considered.
