Australia University of Canberra Research Scholarships

The University of Canberra offers a limited number of University Research Scholarships to support highly qualified candidates undertaking full-time study towards a Higher Degree by Research (HDR). The University of Canberra describes these scholarships as highly competitive and states that the University Research Scholarship Committee awards them for Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarships and UC Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Stipend Scholarships.

The scholarships are for Higher Degree by Research students undertaking full-time study. The University of Canberra states that UC Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Stipend Scholarships are available for both domestic and international applicants, and that RTP and UC HDR stipends provide support to Higher Degree by Research students with exceptional research promise.

Selection is based on several factors: academic merit, strategic alignment, the quality of the research proposal, research experience including publications, and university identified priority groups. Scholarship applications are assessed for completion and eligibility for admission to the PhD, then forwarded to faculties for academic staff to assess and rank applicants based on academic qualifications, strategic alignment, research proposal, and research experience. The University Research Scholarship Committee reviews faculty rankings and allocates awards to the highest ranked applicants in order of merit.

The University of Canberra states that the scholarship duration is 3.5. It also states that Scholarship Conditions of Award are reviewed annually and some entitlements and conditions may change from year to year. For international recipients, the University states that the stipend is not paid until they are able to undertake their research onshore, and that the stipend will be back paid once they arrive at the University of Canberra, Bruce campus.

1. Potential PhD domestic and international candidates must apply through the HDR Application Portal.
2. You must first apply for HDR admission. Once your admission application is submitted, you will gain access to a separate scholarship application form.
3. Complete and submit both the HDR admission application and the scholarship application before the deadline to be considered for a HDR scholarship.
4. Current PhD candidates at the University of Canberra can also apply for a Research Scholarship.
5. Current PhD candidates must complete a Research Scholarship application via the HDR Application Portal.
6. Complete the scholarship application process and use the selection box to select Higher Degree by Research students for the closing date reference.
