Charles Darwin University (CDU) offers the Vice-Chancellor's International High Achievers Scholarships (VCIHAS) to international students with a record of academic excellence and high achievement. CDU states the scholarships reward high-achieving students with outstanding academic accomplishments and who contribute to the potential to make a positive impact on the world.

VCIHAS is aimed at international students applying to commence study in S1 or S2 (the intake they are offered first). It covers an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree and applies to students who meet CDU’s academic and English language entry requirements for the chosen course. Applicants must have a minimum overall score of 95% in their highest completed qualification and must be paying international student fees.

CDU selection is based on the overall score in the applicant’s highest completed qualification and supporting statements (up to 600 words) outlining why the applicant should be awarded a scholarship.

CDU states the scholarship lasts for the minimum time in which the course can be completed, or when the maximum scholarship value has been exhausted, when the course is completed, or when the student no longer meets ongoing eligibility. To retain the scholarship, the recipient must remain liable for international student fees, pay their tuition portion by the first day of teaching each semester, maintain satisfactory academic progress each semester with a minimum GPA of 5.3 and no fail grade in any unit, and maintain full-time enrolment of 40 credit points (0.5 EFTSL) each semester (or have approval to reduce load or take leave). CDU also states the scholarship is neither transferable for cash nor refundable and cannot be transferred to another person, semester, course or year.
