Swinburne International Excellence Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships

Swinburne International Excellence Undergraduate and Postgraduate Scholarships are offered as merit-based scholarships to international students commencing selected studies for the first time at Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus. The merit-based scholarships described include Swinburne International Scholarship (20% off tuition fees) and George Swinburne International Excellence Scholarship (30% off tuition fees). An additional ELICOS+ Scholarship offers a refund of up to 10 weeks of ELICOS tuition under specified conditions.

The scholarships apply to international students commencing an undergraduate course, a postgraduate course, and pathway courses listed (Swinburne Foundation Program, a UniLink diploma or Postgraduate Qualifying Program). George Swinburne International Excellence Scholarship and Swinburne International Scholarship list excluded courses, including excluded undergraduate and postgraduate categories. Women in Engineering Leadership Scholarship applies to female international students commencing eligible engineering or construction courses.

Swinburne states that no extra application is needed for these scholarships: when applicants apply to commence an intake in an eligible course for the first time at the Hawthorn campus, Swinburne automatically considers them for the available international scholarships based on the grades of their previous study. If the application is successful, Swinburne issues a letter of offer that notifies applicants if an international scholarship has been received.

Tuition fee discounts are calculated for the standard course duration from the course start date to the course end date as stated in the letter of offer. The scholarship parameters apply to tuition fees only and do not apply to other fee types such as practicum training and Overseas Student Health Cover. For ELICOS+ Scholarship, a refund equal to 10 weeks of ELICOS fees is deducted from tuition fees across the first three semesters after starting the principal Swinburne course.

• Must be an international student; citizens of Australia or New Zealand and permanent residents of Australia are not eligible.
• Must meet any course or scholarship-specific entry requirements, the terms and conditions of the scholarship, and the conditions outlined in the letter of offer.
• Must not be in receipt of a Swinburne tuition fee scholarship or reduced fee arrangement at any one time (Swinburne applies the most favourable arrangement).
• Must not be in receipt of another form of tuition fee scholarship or reduced fee arrangement from another organisation at the same time.
• ELICOS+ Scholarship: must be applying for an English language course (ELICOS) plus an undergraduate or postgraduate (by coursework) course.
• ELICOS+ Scholarship: must not satisfy the English language requirement of the principal Swinburne course.
• Women in Engineering Leadership Scholarship: must identify as a woman (as per passport).
• Women in Engineering Leadership Scholarship: must be commencing studies at Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus for the first time in an eligible engineering or construction course listed.
• Women in Engineering Leadership Scholarship: must meet the eligibility criteria for Swinburne’s scholarships.
• Swinburne International Scholarship and George Swinburne International Excellence Scholarship: must be commencing an undergraduate course, a postgraduate course, or a pathway course (Swinburne Foundation Program, a UniLink diploma or Postgraduate Qualifying Program) at Swinburne’s Hawthorn campus for the first time in the relevant intake listed on the page.
• Swinburne International Scholarship and George Swinburne International Excellence Scholarship: excluded courses include Bachelor of Aviation and Piloting (including double degrees) and Bachelor of Nursing for undergraduate; excluded postgraduate courses include Master of Physiotherapy, Master of Occupational Therapy, master degrees by research and doctorate degrees.
• Women in Engineering Leadership Scholarship: eligible courses are Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Master of Construction and Infrastructure Management, Master of Engineering Science, and Master of Professional Engineering.

• Swinburne International Scholarship: 20% off tuition fees for the standard course duration, calculated from the course start date to the course end date as stated in the letter of offer.
• George Swinburne International Excellence Scholarship: 30% off tuition fees for the standard course duration, calculated from the course start date to the course end date as stated in the letter of offer.
• ELICOS+ Scholarship: up to 10 weeks of ELICOS tuition refunded; a refund equal to 10 weeks of ELICOS fees will be deducted from tuition fees across the first three semesters of the undergraduate or postgraduate (by coursework) course after starting the principal Swinburne course.
• Women in Engineering Leadership Scholarship: 30% off tuition fees for the standard course duration calculated from the start date to the end date as stated in the letter of offer.

3. If your application for study is successful, you will receive a letter of offer from Swinburne.
