The University of Sydney Australia David Harold Tribe Postgraduate Research Fellowship

The University of Sydney David Harold Tribe Postgraduate Research Fellowship is a postgraduate research scholarship funded by a donation made in by David Harold Tribe. The stated purpose is to support students undertaking research in symphony, sculpture, poetry, fiction and philosophy.

Applicants must be enrolled to study in a master’s by research or PhD within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney. Research must be in symphony, sculpture, poetry, fiction, or philosophy.

Selection is based on academic merit, area of study and/or research proposal, and a personal statement demonstrating commitment to the area of study and, if relevant, financial disadvantage or hardship. Applicants must also provide a copy of an annual progress evaluation meeting report.

The fellowship is valued at $15,000 and is paid as a one-off payment on receipt of a Fellowship Acceptance Form. It is for commencement in the relevant research period in which it is offered and cannot be deferred without prior approval. It may be terminated or suspended under specified conditions, including resignation or withdrawal, submission of the thesis or end of the award, loss of eligibility, or during an enquiry/appeal process. Misconduct may result in repayment requirements.

• Be enrolled to study in a master's by research or PhD within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or Sydney Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney.
• Be conducting research in symphony, sculpture, poetry, fiction, or philosophy.
• Have passed the first year progression assessment of your master's by research or PhD.
• Preference will be given to applicants who experience financial disadvantage or hardship due to at least one of the following: identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person; low socio-economic status; carer responsibilities; long-term medical condition/disability (including ongoing effects of abuse); sole-parent responsibilities; regional or remote disadvantage; and/or refugee status.

• $15,000 fellowship value for both full-time and part-time enrolled recipients.
• Paid as a one-off payment on receipt of a Fellowship Acceptance Form.
