The University of Western Australia The Global Excellence Scholarships

The Global Excellence Scholarship is described by the University of Western Australia as an annual tuition fee discount for the normal full-time duration of the course as specified in the applicant’s letter of offer. The scholarship value is determined by the applicant’s equivalent Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or UWA weighted average mark (WAM).

The scholarship is offered to high-achieving international students from all countries who choose to study with the University of Western Australia. Applicants must have received an offer for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University of Western Australia. Undergraduate eligibility covers eligible undergraduate, combined bachelor’s degree, combined bachelor’s and master’s degree, or Assured Pathway course, with specific exclusions.

Selection is described as automatic: the scholarship is automatically awarded to those eligible based on ATAR/WAM requirements. Eligibility for the scholarship can be assessed from predicted/incomplete results, but it is only assessed once final academic transcripts are received, after which Admissions issues a new offer or scholarship contract as described.

The scholarship provides a tuition fee discount for the normal full-time duration of the course specified in the letter of offer. The University of Western Australia states that to keep the scholarship, recipients are required to meet criteria for continuation, referenced in the full terms and conditions clause on criteria for continuation. After acceptance, the Fees team calculates tuition fees and automatically applies the scholarship before payment is due.

• Undergraduate exclusions apply: Assured Pathway to Medicine; Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine.
• Undergraduate academic requirement for consideration: minimum ATAR 85.00 for 10% off tuition fees; minimum ATAR 90.00 for 20% off tuition fees.
• Postgraduate applicants must be applying for an eligible postgraduate course.
• Postgraduate exclusions apply: Juris Doctor (20820); Doctor of Medicine (91850); Doctor of Dental Medicine (91860); Doctor of Optometry (91590); UWA Micro-credentials.
• Postgraduate academic requirements for consideration: minimum WAM 65.00 for 10% off tuition fees; minimum WAM 75.00 for 20% off tuition fees.
• Combined bachelor’s and combined bachelor’s and master’s (CBM) eligibility: All combined bachelor’s and combined bachelor’s and master’s degrees are considered eligible.
• International and overseas qualifications at a certain level make applicants eligible; other programs or qualifications are considered on an individual basis.
• The scholarship may not be held concurrently with any other UWA issued tuition fee reduction, academic scholarship or award.
• If a student has not provided final transcripts and is awarded the International Student Award, they are assessed for Global Excellence Scholarship upon submission of final academic transcripts, and Admissions awards the scholarship with the highest value the student is eligible for.

• Tuition fee discount of up to 20% for the normal full-time duration of the course (as specified in the letter of offer).
• Undergraduate: 10% off tuition fees for minimum ATAR 85.00; 20% off tuition fees for minimum ATAR 90.00.
• Postgraduate: 10% off tuition fees for minimum WAM 65.00; 20% off tuition fees for minimum WAM 75.00.

1. Submit an application to your chosen University of Western Australia course.
2. A separate scholarship application is not required.
3. Admissions automatically assesses eligibility for the Global Excellence Scholarship based on ATAR/WAM requirements once final transcripts are provided.
4. If eligible, you will find out in your offer letter whether you have been awarded a scholarship; if you accept a conditional offer, a scholarship contract is provided to sign after final transcripts meet the scholarship criteria.
