University of Queensland Liveris Academy Merit Scholarship

The University of Queensland Liveris Academy Merit Scholarship is part of the Liveris Academy Merit Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship value is $10,000 per year, and applicants may also receive up to $10,000 for travel support for approved opportunities. It is for academic excellence and is maintained by the income generated from an endowed fund established by Andrew and Paula Liveris.

This scholarship is aimed at future UQ students and current UQ students who are domestic or international, and who are enrolling at undergraduate level. It applies to study areas of computer science and IT, engineering, and science and mathematics, and requires an intention to enrol full-time in an Approved Program in the year of the award.

Selection considers evidence of academic achievement in Year 12 and/or in an approved program, the quality of the short video and essay, and evidence of personal qualities including leadership potential, community service and/or engagement, alignment with the Liveris Academy graduate attributes, and demonstrated commitment to academic excellence. The selection committee also considers capacity and willingness to participate in co-curricular activities at UQ and interest in co-curricular developmental activities through the Liveris Academy, plus any other relevant matter for future success at UQ and subsequent career.

The scholarship duration is stated as the minimum completion time of program. Applications are acknowledged by email, and if eligible, applications are forwarded to a selection panel. If selected, UQ notifies applicants in writing to organise an interview.

• You will complete, or have completed, year 12 in the two-year period prior to the year of the award.
• You are a Commencing Student and achieve a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 99.00 (or equivalent), or you are a Continuing Student and have a minimum GPA of 5.8 (or equivalent).
• You intend to enrol full-time in an Approved Program in the year of the award.
• You have completed no more than one semester towards the following programs in the year of award: Bachelor of Computer Science; Bachelor of Engineering (Honours); an engineering integrated program; Bachelor of Science; Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours); Bachelor of Information Technology; Bachelor of Mathematics; or a dual program including one of these programs.
• You have completed no more than one semester towards the Approved Program, or you have not undertaken any tertiary study at Bachelor level or higher prior to enrolling in the Approved Program (special studies not included).
• You do not hold another scholarship that the Director considers to be similar.
• Enrolment status: Future UQ student or Current UQ student.
• Student type: Domestic or International.
• Study level: Undergraduate.
• Study area: Computer science and IT; Engineering; Science and mathematics.
