University of Southern Queensland Australia International Stipend and Fee Research Scholarship (DPHD)

UniSQ offers an International PhD Stipend and Fees Research Scholarship (DPHD) for international students studying or commencing the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in. UniSQ states that applications in all areas of research are welcome, with research aligned to UniSQ’s flagship areas.

Applicants discuss the flagship area most closely aligned with their proposed research with their potential supervisor and select this flagship in the application system. Stipend and fee scholarships are applied for as a single application within the online portal and are not awarded separately. Each flagship scholarship offers an optional Industry Stream requiring a mandatory 60-day industry internship.

UniSQ states that selection is assessed using academic achievement, research capability, the research project and environment (including alignment with UniSQ research priorities and external support), and the supervisory team (including supervisor capacity and publication records). For the Industry Stream, a Letter of Support is completed by the industry partner, and UniSQ requires contractual agreements to be in place prior to program commencement if awarded under this stream.

UniSQ states that the scholarship provides a stipend and tuition fees for a maximum period of three years full-time equivalent study, with periods of study already undertaken toward the degree deducted from the scholarship.

• Have completed a Bachelor Degree with First Class Honours, or equivalent level.
• Be eligible to be enrolled full-time on-campus in the PhD program at UniSQ.
• Be an international student, not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident.
• Commence or continue study in 2027.
• For the industry stream: Applicants must have a 60-day industry internship and the industry partner must complete a Letter of Support.
• For the industry stream, continuing students must be within 18 months of commencing full-time studies or within 36 months of commencing part-time studies.
• Application for entry into the Doctor of Philosophy program is a separate process that must be started to be eligible for the scholarship.

• Stipend of AUD $39,000 per annum.
• Tuition fees for a maximum period of three years full-time equivalent study, paid by UniSQ.

1. Ensure digital copies of the required information are available (Statement of Claim; curriculum vitae; Preliminary Research Thesis Topic Proposal; documentation confirming citizenship; and education qualifications including testamur and academic transcripts for all undergraduate and postgraduate awards).
2. If applying for the industry stream, ensure the industry partner completes the Letter of Support.
3. Submit the application via the UniSQ Scholarship Application Management System by the closing date.
