University of Sydney Australia Enhanced Business School Research Scholarship

The Enhanced Business School Research Scholarship (EBSRS) is a postgraduate research scholarship developed to support Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree students within The University of Sydney Business School. It provides a minimum yearly scholarship value of $50,207 to support students to study a PhD at the University of Sydney Business School.

Eligibility is for applicants applying to study a postgraduate research degree at the University of Sydney Business School and for candidates applying for admission for full-time studies in a PhD degree within the Business School by the relevant advertised deadlines. The scholarship covers PhD recipients for 3.5 years (with a possibility to extend) and MPhil recipients for up to 1.5 years.

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of demonstrated academic achievement and research potential. Candidates considered automatically for admission applications for full-time PhD study are considered, and the successful applicant is awarded on nomination of a selection committee consisting of the Associate Dean Research Education (or nominee) and at least two other academic staff from the University of Sydney Business School.

Support is provided as an annual stipend (living allowance) for 3.5 years for PhD recipients, with a possibility to extend to up to 4 years subject to funding availability and approval. Academic tuition fees are provided for international recipients for the relevant number of research periods (with possibilities to extend). Recipients must withdraw applications for Research Training Program (RTP) funding, and progression depends on passing annual progress evaluation and completing school research milestones. Scholarship conditions include leave, suspension, enrolment change reporting, and termination triggers including resignation, thesis submission, loss of full-time status without prior approval, and receipt of an alternative primary stipend or tuition fee scholarship.

• Stipend of $40,109 per year (indexed on 1 January) for 3.5 years for PhD recipients (with a possibility to extend to four years, subject to approval), or up to 1.5 years for Master of Philosophy (MPhil) recipients.
• Academic tuition fees are provided for international recipients for 3.5 years for PhD recipients (with a possibility to extend to four years, subject to approval), or up to 1.5 years for Master of Philosophy (MPhil) recipients.
• Opportunity to receive at least $10,000 per year for carrying out specific teaching and/or research duties (details provided at the time of scholarship offer).
• Supplementary scholarship: annual stipend allowance equivalent to the difference of externally funded scholarship and the Research Training Program (RTP) rate during scholarship tenure.
• Tenable for up to 3.5 years for PhD recipients (with a possibility to extend to 4 years, subject to approval) and up to 1.5 years for MPhil recipients.
