University of Sydney in Australia Sakuko Matsui Australia-Japan Friendship Scholarships

The Sakuko Matsui Australia-Japan Friendship Scholarships support an undergraduate or postgraduate research student undertaking Japanese studies with a maximum scholarship value of up to $8000.

• Applicants must be either: (I) a domestic student currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate research degree in Japanese Studies within the School of Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney; or (II) an international student from Japan currently enrolled at the University of Sydney who resides or intends to reside at the Women’s College.
• Japanese studies includes all studies related to Japanese modern and premodern culture, history, language, society and literature, without limitation.
• International students must be from Japan.
• International students must be enrolled at the University of Sydney and reside or intend to reside at the Women’s College.
• Domestic applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate research degree in Japanese studies within the School of Languages and Cultures at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
• Previous recipients of this Scholarship are not eligible.
• For terms related to travel to Japan and residency at the Women’s College: proof of residency or intended residency at the Women’s College is required (if applicable), and budgets must include an amount for travel insurance for all flights and accommodation relating to the proposal if funds are used for travel (if applicable).

• Maximum scholarship value of $8000.
• The exact value is stipulated in the Scholarship Offer Letter.
• Paid as a one-off payment upon receipt of the Scholarship Acceptance Form.
• The scholarship cannot be used for another purpose.
• No other amount is payable.
