University of Western Australia Global Excellence Scholarship

The Global Excellence Scholarship is offered to high-achieving international students who choose to study with the University of Western Australia. The scholarship is described as an annual tuition fee discount for the normal full-time duration of the awardee’s course, as stated in the letter of offer. Its value is based on the applicant’s equivalent Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or UWA weighted average mark (WAM).

The scholarship is available to students from all countries. Applicants must have received an offer for an eligible undergraduate or postgraduate course at the University of Western Australia for the specified intake. Undergraduate eligibility includes eligible undergraduate, combined bachelor’s degree, combined bachelor’s and master’s degree, or Assured Pathway course, with exclusions listed for Assured Pathway to Medicine and Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine.

Postgraduate eligibility covers eligible postgraduate courses, with exclusions listed for specific postgraduate programs and UWA Micro-credentials. Eligibility is assessed against minimum ATAR thresholds for undergraduate courses and minimum WAM thresholds for postgraduate courses, with combined bachelor’s and combined bachelor’s and master’s degrees considered eligible for the scholarship.

The scholarship is automatically awarded to those eligible based on ATAR/WAM requirements. Once offered, the offer letter indicates whether a scholarship has been awarded; after accepting the offer, tuition fees are payable each semester. Before payment is due, UWA Fees calculates tuition fees and automatically applies the scholarship. • Undergraduate level: candidate must be applying for an eligible undergraduate course, combined bachelor’s degree, combined bachelor’s and master’s degree, or Assured Pathway course.
• Undergraduate exclusions: Assured Pathway to Medicine; Assured Pathway to Dental Medicine.
• Undergraduate academic requirement: minimum equivalent ATAR of 85.00 for 10% off tuition fees.
• Undergraduate academic requirement: minimum equivalent ATAR of 90.00 for 20% off tuition fees.
• Notes on equivalent qualifications (undergraduate): International and overseas qualifications achieved at a certain level make you eligible for this scholarship; other programs or qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
• Postgraduate level: candidate must be applying for an eligible postgraduate course.
• Postgraduate exclusions: Juris Doctor (20820); Doctor of Medicine (91850); Doctor of Dental Medicine (91860); Doctor of Optometry (91590); UWA Micro-credentials.
• Postgraduate academic requirement: minimum WAM of 65.00 for 10% off tuition fees.
• Postgraduate academic requirement: minimum WAM of 75.00 for 20% off tuition fees.
• Combined bachelor’s eligibility: all combined bachelor’s and combined bachelor’s and master’s degrees are considered eligible.
• Scholarship confirmation timing: eligibility for the scholarship can only be assessed once final transcripts are received; conditional offer letters may be issued without a scholarship attached.
• Concurrency: the scholarship may not be held concurrently with any other UWA issued tuition fee reduction, academic scholarship or award.

• Tuition fee discount: up to 20% off tuition fees.
• Tuition fee discount rate thresholds: 10% off tuition fees with minimum equivalent ATAR (undergraduate) or minimum WAM (postgraduate); 20% off tuition fees with higher minimum equivalent ATAR (undergraduate) or minimum WAM (postgraduate).
• Duration: tuition fee discount is an annual tuition fee discount for the normal full-time duration of the awardee’s course as specified in the letter of offer.

1. Submit an application to the chosen UWA course (a separate scholarship application is not required).
2. Provide final academic transcripts; UWA Admissions automatically assesses scholarship eligibility once final transcripts are received.
3. Check the offer letter to see whether a Global Excellence Scholarship has been awarded; accept the offer if you want to proceed.
4. After accepting the offer, UWA Fees calculates your tuition fees and automatically applies the scholarship before each semester payment is due.
