20% Merit Scholarship

Metropolitan University offers merit scholarships to attract and retain students and need-based financial assistance to support poor but meritorious students. For entry-level students, a 20% Merit Scholarship is awarded to candidates with GPA 5.00 (SSC and HSC) who do not meet the Golden GPA criterion. The stated award is a tuition fee waiver for four years.

Eligibility for this entry-level merit scholarship is based on examination results (GPA 10 in SSC and HSC with or without Golden GPA, or GPA 9 in SSC and HSC). The scholarship described here is the 20% tier for candidates securing GPA 5.00 without Golden GPA for SSC and HSC. Other scholarship types at the university also exist for existing students and for need-based or other categories.

For the merit scholarship for existing students (Chairman and Vice Chancellor), selection depends on achieving specific GPA/grade conditions across consecutive terms and other eligibility conditions, including restrictions on retake or supplementary examinations, drops in study, external scholarships, Master’s enrolment, and disciplinary standards. Applications for scholarships are invited after semester results, and the academic results of applicants are verified and signed by the relevant Heads of the Departments.

Support for the entry-level merit scholarship is for four years. Scholarship funds for the Chairman and Vice Chancellor scholarships are disbursed in three installments directly to recipients’ bank accounts, and maintaining an active bank account is required for receiving payments. Scholarship installments continue only if students continue their studies if they have not yet completed the four-year program.

• 20% Merit Scholarship: 20% tuition fee waiver for four years.
• For Chairman’s Scholarship (separate from the 20% tier): TK 1,500 per month for one year, along with a certificate.
• For Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship (separate from the 20% tier): TK 1,000 per month for one year, along with a certificate.
• Scholarship funds are disbursed in three installments directly to the recipients’ bank accounts, and maintaining an active bank account is mandatory for receiving scholarship payments.

1. After semester results are published, applications for scholarships are invited one week after the publication of the results.
2. Submit the scholarship application within two weeks from the date of the announcement; no applications are accepted after the deadline.
3. Ensure academic results are verified and signed by the respective Heads of the Departments.
