Master in Sustainable Energy System Management Sesym

The European Master in Sustainable Energy System Management (SESyM) trains students to design, assess, and implement an innovative energy business plan. It focuses on sustainable energy challenges as transdisciplinary issues, with technological, economic, legal, social, and environmental challenges as central themes. Students work with realistic and authentic company case studies and projects using a systems approach.

The programme has 3 semesters: core, specialisation (choice), and thesis, with each semester worth 30 study credits and 90 credits in total. The core semester (Groningen at Hanzehogeschool and Ireland at Limerick Institute of Technology) covers economic and business concepts, legal frameworks, and energy business technical aspects. The specialisation semester can be chosen between Zaragoza, Kortrijk (Howest), or Groningen, including an option at Howest titled “Sustainable Energy & ICT”. The thesis can be completed in a company or in a research institution in Europe.

• Certificate attesting to sufficient proficiency of the English language (IELTS 6.5 or similar)
• A (professional) bachelor diploma from one of the following study fields: Business Management and Economics (e.g. Company Management, Network Economics, …), Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, Architecture
• European requirement: students must have studied in at least 2 European countries in the course of this study track
