VLIR-UOS- Scholarships for masters (ICP Connect), Masters of Governance and Development

The IOB offers 10 full scholarships for each Advanced Master. The scholarships are funded by the Flemish Interuniversity Council (VLIRUOS). The scholarship selection is tied to the ICP Connect programme at the Institute of Development Policy.

Applicants must be nationals and residents of one of the 29 eligible countries at the time of the application, with the place of residence checked (nationality and country of residence do not have to match). The maximum age for an Advanced Master programme candidate is 45 years (age on 1 January of the intake year). Candidates should preferably be employed in higher education, government, or civil society, or aim for a career in one of these sectors.

For each Master, 10 effective scholars and 10 substitute scholars will be selected. The selection is based on ICP Connect selection criteria: the IOB applies gender and regional balance, professional experience is an important asset, and outstanding motivation is highly valued. Preference goes to applicants who have never received a scholarship before. The IOB explains that positive discrimination in terms of gender may affect who receives a scholarship even if scores differ, and that odds can vary from year to year due to relative selection criteria.
