University Canada West (UCW) Scholarships

University Canada West (UCW) entrance awards, scholarships and grants are available to new students applying to a UCW undergraduate or graduate program. University Canada West states that award recipients should act as ambassadors for UCW and participate in outreach and alumni engagement initiatives. University Canada West also states that all awards are disbursed as tuition credit, with exclusions for certain courses (New Student Orientation, ENGL 080, and repeat course attempts).

UCW entrance awards are available to new students approved for admission to either undergraduate or graduate programs at UCW. University Canada West states that students taking online programs are not eligible for these entrance awards unless specified, and applicants with conditional offers are not eligible to qualify for an award until they fulfill the conditions for full admission. University Canada West also states that some awards are bestowed automatically at the point of admission when eligibility is met.

University Canada West states that applicants can receive only one (1) award, scholarship, grant, or continuing student award if eligible (limited exceptions apply). For automatically awarded options, University Canada West states that if a student is eligible for multiple automatically awarded awards, the student will receive the award with the highest value. University Canada West also states that certain awards are reviewed through an application process and may be limited, so eligibility does not guarantee approval.

University Canada West states that award disbursements commence from the first term of enrolment as a tuition credit for specified awards, excluding preparatory course terms. University Canada West also states that award offers are subject to change without prior notice, and the allocated pool of financial support may be fully utilized before the end of an award’s program validity, which can lead to withdrawal unless the applicant has already received an official Letter of Acceptance.

• For the “CANADA 150 TUITION CONCESSION FOR THE ARMED FORCES” option: open to domestic applicants who are active members, reservists, or veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) or CF One members.
• For the “CANADA 150 TUITION CONCESSION FOR THE ARMED FORCES” option: students taking online programs are not eligible for this award.
• For the “CANADA 150 TUITION CONCESSION FOR THE ARMED FORCES” option: a copy of the CF One Card must be submitted with the initial application to be considered.
• For the “SCHOLARSHIPS FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE” option: open to domestic applicants with excellent academic achievement on their qualification used as their basis for admission (specific CGPA requirements apply).
• For the “UNIVERSITY CANADA WEST ALUMNI GRANT” option: eligible alumni must be a UCW graduate from a degree program at UCW at any time after July 2017 and have been admitted to study a new Bachelor or Master program at UCW.
• For the “UNIVERSITY CANADA WEST ALUMNI GRANT” option: alumni are individuals who have received an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree from University Canada West.
• For the “REGIONAL GRANT” option: open to international applicants.
• For the “RISING SCHOLARS GRANT” option: open to international applicants who are citizens from one of the listed countries, or international students in Canada for at least one year.
• For disbursal: New Student Orientation (NSO), ENGL 080, and any repeat course attempts are not eligible courses for disbursal payments (even if taken within the disbursal period).
• For specified awards: students must commence their program before their offer for admission expires, must not change programs, must pay all fees not covered by the award by their due dates, must maintain good academic standing, and must maintain full-time enrollment status.
• For the “UNIVERSITY CANADA WEST ALUMNI GRANT” option: student must not be receiving a full scholarship from a government or third-party agency.
• For specified awards: award offers can be withdrawn if the allocated pool of financial support is fully utilized before the end of the award program’s validity, unless the student has already received an official Letter of Acceptance.
• For specified awards: award can be removed without notice unless the student has already received their LOA.

• All entrance awards, scholarships and grants are disbursed as tuition credit.
• CANADA 150 TUITION CONCESSION FOR THE ARMED FORCES: recipients receive a 30% lower tuition rate.
• CANADA 150 TUITION CONCESSION FOR THE ARMED FORCES: applied as a discount to all courses within the program plan.
• Scholarships for Academic Excellence: disbursements commence from the first term of enrolment (excluding terms with preparatory courses).
• University Canada West Alumni Grant: award value is $2,000.
• University Canada West Alumni Grant: full disbursal made on first term of enrolment as a tuition credit (excluding preparatory courses).
• Regional Grant: disbursements commence from the first term of enrolment as a tuition credit; primarily applied in Year 1 (planning may vary); amount is prorated based on number of credits required; adjusted if transfer credits are received.
• Rising Scholars Grant: disbursements commence from the first term of enrolment as a tuition credit; amount is prorated based on number of credits required; adjusted if transfer credits are received.

1. Determine whether the award is automatic or requires an application. University Canada West states that the listed awards under “The following awards are bestowed automatically” require no award application as they are granted at point of admission if eligibility is met.
2. If applying for an award reviewed through an application process (non-automatically awarded), submit the award application so it is received a minimum 30-days before the applicant’s program start date.
3. Ensure the application is complete to be considered as meeting the application deadline.
4. For the “UNIVERSITY CANADA WEST ALUMNI GRANT” option: University Canada West states no application form is needed; use the original application email to link your account.
