University of Manitoba International Students Awards and Financial Aid

The University of Manitoba rewards students who have demonstrated academic success and supports those with financial need through international student scholarships and bursaries. The page includes International Undergraduate Student Entrance Scholarships, International Undergraduate Student Scholarships, and International Student Bursaries.

The entrance scholarships include the International Excellence Entrance Scholarship and the General Entrance Scholarship. The International Excellence Entrance Scholarship recognizes exceptional international students with a strong commitment to community engagement and leadership and is for students paying the international student tuition fee rate who are enrolled full-time with a direct entry option. The General Entrance Scholarship is for international students graduating from international high schools and entering studies at the University of Manitoba.

For the International Excellence Entrance Scholarship, eligible applicants are ranked by a selection committee, with first place receiving the highest scholarship value and second and third place receiving lower values. The International Undergraduate Student Scholarship ranks eligible continuing students by sessional grade point average and offers scholarships until available funds are exhausted or the grade point standard is reached.

For the International Undergraduate Student Scholarship, recipients are continuing in the next consecutive year of full-time undergraduate study with a minimum course load. For bursaries, students must apply for the University of Manitoba General Bursary through Aurora in addition to any individual applications that may be required for specific awards.

• Applicants for international scholarships must be international students (i.e. in Canada on valid study permits).International Excellence Entrance Scholarship: applicant must be paying the international student tuition fee rate.International Excellence Entrance Scholarship: applicant must have achieved a minimum average of 90% in five senior level approved high school courses from the listed course options (Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, English, First Language Literature, Geography, History, Music and Visual Arts).International Excellence Entrance Scholarship: applicant must be enrolled full-time in any faculty, college or school with a direct entry option.International Excellence Entrance Scholarship: selection is by a selection committee (ranked among eligible applicants).International Excellence Entrance Scholarship: includes a requirement of commitment to community engagement and leadership (as part of recognition criteria).General Entrance Scholarship: applicant must have applied for admission to any Faculty or School at the University of Manitoba by the deadline date of March 1.General Entrance Scholarship: applicant must be paying the international student tuition fee rates.General Entrance Scholarship: applicant must have achieved a minimum high school average of 85% based on the best five senior level academic courses from the approved General Entrance Scholarship list.General Entrance Scholarship: for candidates from outside Manitoba and Canada, a comparable level of academic standing will be used.General Entrance Scholarship: applicant must enroll in both the upcoming fall and winter terms, in a minimum of 24 credit hours.General Entrance Scholarship: the scholarship cannot be held with a University of Manitoba International Baccalaureate Entrance Scholarship or with any other award offered through the University of Manitoba Entrance Scholarship program.International Undergraduate Student Scholarship: applicant must be in Canada on valid study permits.International Undergraduate Student Scholarship: applicant must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours in any Faculty or School at the University of Manitoba.International Undergraduate Student Scholarship: applicant must show exceptional academic achievement on courses completed in the last regular academic session, with a minimum sessional grade point average of 3.5.International Undergraduate Student Scholarship: applicant must be continuing in the next consecutive year of full-time undergraduate study in their program during the Fall/Winter academic session, in a minimum of 24 credit hours.International Student Bursaries: to qualify for bursaries, students must apply for the University of Manitoba General Bursary through Aurora in addition to any individual applications that may be required for specific awards.International Student Bursaries: international students in their first year of post-secondary study in Canada are not eligible to apply to the general bursary program.
