York University offers entrance scholarships, awards and bursaries that recognize academic excellence, resilience and community leadership. Some financial awards require an application for consideration, while other entrance awards are automatically assessed and awarded at the time of admission. York University awards over $20M in entrance scholarships and awards annually, and some are renewable.

For Canadian high-school applicants, York University lists eligibility for “a high school applicant” based on age, time away from full-time high school studies, and whether you have attempted studies at an accredited college or university. York University also includes examples of entrance scholarships and awards for Canadian high-school applicants, with options that can be automatically assessed or require an application.

For awards requiring an application, the Scholarships and Awards application link is accessible in MyFile starting on December 1. Applicants do not need an offer of admission or to have accepted an offer of admission to apply; they need to have applied to a program at York University and have been issued a York student number. York University states some scholarships have an application deadline as early as February 15, while for others the application closes April 1.

York University states that scholarship values are subject to change. For recipients of an entrance scholarship/award, York University will notify you by e-mail or letter with the name, value and terms and conditions of the award (if applicable). For the York University Automatic Entrance Scholarship, York University states it is renewable at all tiers based on GPA and course load requirements, and renewal requires maintaining a minimum 8.0 Grade Point Average over a minimum of 24 credits during the entire academic year (including previous Summer and Fall/Winter sessions).
