Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Central South University Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Chinese-taught programs: HSK4 score of 220 (for science and engineering) or 260 (for arts, social science, and medical programs), HSK5 score of 200 (for Chinese language and literature)
  • English-taught programs: IELTS score of 6 or TOEFL score of 85

  • Applicants with Chinese or English as their first language or the official language of their country

How to Apply for Central South University Scholarship

Follow these steps to apply for the Central South University Scholarship for the year 2024:

1. Create an Account
   • Register on the university’s website and begin the application process.
2. Submit Required Documents
   • Provide the following documents to the university:
     • Passport photocopy (valid for over one year)
     • Physical Examination Record (completed after December 1, 2021)
     • Highest graduation certificate or notarized Chinese/English-translated certificate (for current students, a pre-graduation certificate is required)
     • Stamped transcript of the highest diploma or notarized Chinese/English-translated transcript
     • Non-criminal record or Chinese/English-translated document with an official stamp (issued after December 1, 2021)
     • Language proficiency proof (HSK for Chinese-taught programs, IELTS/TOEFL for English-taught programs)
     • Two recommendation letters from professors/associate professors (for graduate applicants)
     • Study plan (for graduate applicants, minimum 800 words)
     • Published essays or other supporting materials (for graduate applicants)
3. Application Fee
   • Pay the application fee of RMB 500 through the university’s payment platform (options include WeChat, Alipay, and UnionPay). This should be completed within two weeks of passing the initial review.
4. Academic Review
   • Relevant schools will conduct an academic review to assess applicants’ academic background and research potential.
5. Result Release
   • The final admission result will be communicated via email. The email will also include information on financial support. Admission status will be available on the CSU China International Student Service System.
6. Annual Review
   • Scholarship students will undergo an annual review based on academic and daily performance. Continued scholarship eligibility depends on passing this review.
