Overview

The Juan Gómez Millas Scholarship (BJGM) is a monetary contribution that can finance total or partially the annual tuition fees of a student’s degree. Eligibility is linked to being in the 70% of the country’s lowest-income population according to the Registro Social de Hogares (RSH). To apply and use the benefit, the higher-education institution must be accredited by the end; for Medicine, Dentistry, or Education (Pedagogía), the program must have accreditation or be in the accreditation process by a specified date.

The scholarship applies to eligible students who meet the income requirement under the RSH. For students in the first year, it requires academic performance in mandatory PAES tests, with a minimum score threshold, and for those admitted through PACE no PAES score is required. For students already studying in higher education, it requires meeting specified academic progress conditions by year. The benefit also includes 250 special places for students with a disability situation.

The process includes checking allocation results through the Mineduc student benefits site, using the student identifier to see results for first and second periods. Allocation is tied to the scholarship renewal and results/appeal processes shown in that system. The scholarship can only be granted for the degree’s regulatory duration, while the process of graduation and professional or work practices is excluded unless included in the duration of the degree’s curriculum.
