BCLU China Link Scholarship

Beijing Language and Culture University offers the “China Link Scholarship Program” for international students and faculties through China Scholarship Council (CSC), to deepen academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign young generations and to support international exchanges and cooperation of young talents.

The program has two funding categories: “General scholar” for current undergraduates or master students, and “Senior scholar” for current Ph. D students or faculties. It supports study/research fields including Chinese Language and Literature, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, and International Economy and Trade, with majors listed in Attachment 2.

Applicants must contact BLCU by email to submit application materials and obtain a pre-admission notice, then complete CSC’s online application in the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System and upload supporting documents. BLCU notifies scholarship admission results to applicants.

Support lasts for 1–12 months, with study in China starting no later than August 31,. Successful applicants receive a full scholarship from CSC that includes a tuition waiver, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly stipend. Scholarship holders must complete BLCU registration according to BLCU’s schedule, and in principle may not change the admitted institution, major, or duration of study.

• Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China.
• Have good moral character and academic excellence.
• Be in good health, both mentally and physically.
• For general scholars: be under 45 years of age when applying.
• For senior scholars: be under 50 years of age when applying.
• Be registered as a full-time student or employed as a full-time academic staff at CSC’s foreign partner universities at the time of application and throughout the proposed stay in China.
• Have received either the admission notice or the invitation letter issued by BLCU.

• Monthly stipend: CNY 3,000 for general scholars.
• Monthly stipend: CNY 3,500 for senior scholars.

1. 1. Contact BLCU by email ([email protected]), submit the application materials, and obtain a pre-admission notice.
2. 2. Log into the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) to complete the CSC online application and upload supporting documents. Use Attachment 3 for the online application guide.
3. 3. Submit the application materials before the application deadline based on Beijing time: July 5, 2025 (September 2025 admission); October 5, 2025 (first batch of admission in March 2026); February 5, 2026 (second batch of admission in March 2026).
4. 4. BLCU will notify scholarship admission results to applicants.
5. 5. After receiving scholarship, complete BLCU registration according to BLCU’s schedule; scholarship will not be retained for those who fail to register for no reason before the deadline.

• A copy of the applicant’s passport home page. Passport validity should meet the requirement of at least 6 months from the beginning of the class; if not, apply for a new passport before submitting the application.
• Certificate of study or employment.
• Academic transcripts (not required for faculty and staff).
• Certification of language ability (HSK score report, ELTS, TOEFL, etc.).
• Study or research plan in China (no less than 500 words).
• Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (original kept by applicant; form must be written in English; must cover all items; incomplete forms or missing required signatures/stamps/sealed photograph are invalid).
• Non-criminal certificate (valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to submission date).
• For documents in languages other than Chinese or English: notarized Chinese or English translations.
