Donghua University Chinese Government China Link Scholarship

The Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) China Link Scholarship Program is established by China Scholarship Council (CSC) to deepen academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign young generations, supporting international exchanges and cooperation in academic and research activities in China. Donghua University (DHU) states this program will continue to be implemented in.

Funding categories are: General scholar for current undergraduates or master students, and Senior scholar for current Ph.D. students or faculties. The program covers all disciplines other than Chinese language study. Instruction language is English or Chinese, depending on the program provided by Donghua University.

Applicants must be citizens of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and in good health. They must be enrolled as a full-time student or employed as a full-time academic staff at CSC’s foreign partner universities for the time of application and throughout the proposed stay in China. DHU performs an academic review; if the review is passed, DHU issues a Pre-admission Letter and guides the applicant to submit an online application at CSC’s system. CSC decides whether to grant the scholarship.

Support during one’s stay in China is a full scholarship, consisting of a waiver of tuition fee, medical insurance fee, and on-campus dorm fee. The stay duration in China is 1 to 12 months, decided by DHU, with the study start date at DHU no later than August 31,. Monthly stipend is CNY 3,000 for general scholars and CNY 3,500 for senior scholars.

• Citizenship: Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China.
• Health: Be in good health, both mentally and physically.
• Current status: Be enrolled as a full-time student or employed as a full-time academic staff at CSC’s foreign partner universities (Foreign University List-updated 0303.pdf) at the time of application and throughout their proposed stay in China.
• Age (general scholar): Be under 45 years of age when applying for general scholars (current undergraduates or master students).
• Age (senior scholar): Be under 50 years of age when applying for senior scholars (current Ph.D. students or faculties).
• Discipline restriction: Study/Research fields are all disciplines other than Chinese language study.
• Institution listing (initial step): Home university where the applicant is studying or working must be on the list of CSC’s foreign partner universities (Foreign University List-updated 0303.pdf).

• Monthly stipend: CNY3,000 for general scholars.
• Monthly stipend: CNY3,500 for senior scholars.

1. Confirm that the home university where you are studying at or working at is on CSC’s foreign partner universities list (Foreign University List-updated 0303.pdf).
2. Contact DHU professors or research groups on your own for permission of your short-term research at DHU.
3. Contact your home university to issue the official enrollment/registration certificate for full-time study (for enrolled students) or the Certificate of Employment (for academic staff) from the relevant responsible office/department; prepare the required application materials.
4. At least 3 months before your intended starting time of study in China, contact Donghua University International Education Center (IEC) via [email protected] and submit: scanned copy of your passport, enrollment/registration certificate or Certificate of Employment, your CV, permission of DHU professors or research groups, using the email subject “2026 CGS China Link - Your Full Name”. Wait for IEC’s reply for formal application to DHU, including submission of the listed application materials.
5. Wait for the university’s academic review result; if you pass, IEC issues a Pre-admission Letter and guides you on how to submit the online application at CSC’s system.
6. CSC decides whether to grant the scholarship; the result is announced to DHU professors or research groups as well as the applicant through IEC.

• Passport (and visa) page: clear copy of valid passport showing name, photo, date of birth, place of birth, date of issue, and date of expiry; at least 6-month validity; all visa pages required if you have been to or are currently in China.
• Certificate of Enrollment/Employment: official enrollment/registration certificate for full-time study (for enrolled students) or Certificate of Employment (for academic staff) from the responsible office/department of the home university.
• Transcripts (for students only): transcripts of all grades/semesters completed, plus a description of grading scales.
• Research Proposal: written in the teaching language of the program applied for; no less than 800 words; must include research topic, objectives, background, literature review, current research status, methodology, expected outcomes, references, and how you will conduct the research.
• Study Plan: written in the teaching language of the program applied for; no less than 500 words; must include study plan content such as academic background and research interests, learning objectives, research preparation and progression plan, future career planning, and why you chose China, DHU, and the specific program.
• Curriculum Vitae (CV): written in the teaching language specified for DHU’s applied program; must include personal information, self-assessment, hobbies and interests, strengths and advantages, contact details, and educational background (starting from high school), plus work or internship experiences and other relevant experiences or achievements.
• Foreigner Physical Examination Form and relevant check result pages: required for applicants planning to stay in China more than 6 months (within 6 months prior to online application submission to DHU) or a personal health statement instead for stays less than 6 months.
• Non-criminal records report: required for applicants planning to stay in China more than 6 months (issued within 6 months prior to the online application submission to DHU) or a non-criminal records statement instead for stays less than 6 months.
