Hainan University China Link Scholarship by China Scholarship Council (CSC)

Hainan University participates in the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) Bilateral Program established by MOE under educational exchange agreements or understandings, which provides both full scholarships and partial scholarships for international students and scholars. It covers full-time study for Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral, and Chinese language study.

The Bilateral Program supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars, and senior scholars. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental condition, with good academic performance and conduct. The scholarship categories include Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate, general scholars, and senior scholars, with eligibility tied to prior education and age, and dispatching authorities determine which categories are available.

Selection follows an application process through the applicant’s home country dispatching authorities: applicants apply for CGS first, then dispatching authorities recommend eligible candidates and issue an Award Letter for CGS Candidate. Recommended candidates then apply to Hainan University for a Pre-admission Letter and complete an online application through the CGS Information System for submission to the CGS.

Support under the Bilateral Program includes tuition, free dormitory accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance, and a monthly stipend by level. For the Chinese University Program (Type B, Hainan University 10589) for degree programs only, scholarship duration is stated as three years for master’s programs and four years for doctoral and bachelor programs, specified in the Admission Letter and not generally extendable.

• Bilateral Program applicant education and age requirements: Senior scholars must have a Master’s degree certified by MOE, be associate professor or higher, and be under the age of 50
• Categories available depend on the dispatching authorities of the applicant’s home country
• Chinese University Program (Type B) eligibility: offered only for degree programs

1. Apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of your home country for the CGS opportunity.
2. If recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate (you receive an Award Letter for CGS Candidate), apply to Hainan University for the Pre-admission Letter.
3. If recommended by the dispatching authorities as an eligible candidate (Award Letter for CGS Candidate), complete the online application with the CGS Information System (http://www.campuschina.org) by logging in under “Scholarship Application for students”, then submit the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship. Consult the dispatching authorities for CGS Information System instructions and the Agency Number.
4. Submit all application documents to the dispatching authorities of your home country before the deadline.
5. Hainan University prepares admission documents including Electronical Letter of Admission and Visa Application Form for Scholarship recipients (JW201).
6. For the Chinese University Program (Type B) degree programs, apply to the International Student Office, School of International Education, Hainan University.
