HIT Chinese Government Scholarship

HIT Chinese Government Scholarship programs sponsor master’s and doctoral degree students. The stated purpose is degree-level sponsorship for study at Harbin Institute of Technology.

  • Chinese-taught programs: HSK level 4 ≥ 180 scores (valid for two years). If the language of instruction in the previous degree is Chinese, a Chinese language instruction certificate issued by the previous institution can be provided. No English proficiency requirement.
  • English-taught programs: TOEFL ≥ 80 and academic IELTS ≥ 6.0 (no subtest lower than 5.5). If the language of instruction in the previous degree is English, an English language instruction certificate issued by the previous degree institution can be provided. No Chinese proficiency requirement.
• Proof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, art, cultural exchanges, public welfare activities, etc. (not mandatory).
• Applicants applying under the age of 18 must submit valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
• To be eligible, applicants’ application materials must be authentic and valid; falsification or misconduct can lead to rejection of application/admission/enrollment, and expulsion if discovered after enrollment.

3. Step 2: Pay the application fee of CNY 400 or USD 60. Use the remittance information provided (Beneficiary Name: Harbin Institute of Technology; Account Number: 3500040109008900513; Bank Name: Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Harbin, Da Zhi Branch; Bank Address: 318 East Dazhi Street, Harbin, People’s Republic of China; SWIFT/BIC: ICBKCNBJHLJ). The application fee is non-refundable, and Alipay or WeChat payment is not supported. Mark the applicant’s passport name and passport number on the remittance voucher.
4. Step 3: Login Harbin Institute of Technology Application System at https://hit.at0086.cn/student, upload the CSC Application Form and other required materials, and complete the application.

• Copy of Passport Home Page (and apply for a new passport if current validity does not meet the requirement, meaning the passport expires before September 2026).
• Highest graduate certificate (expected graduation certificate can be acceptable, but the original graduation certificate must be submitted at registration).
• Academic transcripts (from undergraduate onward; include copies of academic records from first to last semester during undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any)); transcripts must be issued and sealed by the attending university’s academic affairs office/graduate school/student management department; may be in Chinese or English, but if in foreign languages other than English, must include notarized English translations.
• Language proficiency certificate.
• Acceptance letter (optional).
• A study plan at least 1,500 words (doctoral student proposal must be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor; written according to HIT requirements).
• Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.
• Example of art (for majors related to art or design): submit own works through “Example of Art/Other Supporting Documents” in the system or provide such materials to applied universities directly in other ways.
• For applicants under the age of 18: valid documents of their legal guardians in China.
• Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (valid within six months) covering all items; must be complete and include attending physician signature, hospital official stamp, and a sealed photograph; incomplete records are invalid.
• Non-criminal record report: a valid certificate issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the application submission date.
• Bank receipt of application fee: CNY 400 or USD 60.
