Introduction

Sociology is a Bachelor program taught at Canadian Mennonite University, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Sociology at Canadian Mennonite University is the systematic study of human society. Students study culture, socialization, groups and organizations, social processes, community, social stratification, social change, and major institutions such as religious, economic, educational, or health care institutions, and the family. The sociological perspective is illustrated by analyzing Canadian society in the context of the global community.

Canadian Mennonite University frames sociology with questions about how students’ faith and beliefs are shaped by society, and about how their faith and beliefs can shape society. The program includes Sociology minor requirements of 18 credit hours with required introductory courses, followed by optional exploration of topics based on student interest.

The Sociology minor can fit alongside a major in any field in either the three-year or the four-year Bachelor of Arts. Canadian Mennonite University states that secondary competencies from the minor can apply to many vocations, and it lists areas such as social welfare, criminal justice, government, research, industrial relations, and administration.
