Introduction

Environmental Studies is a Bachelor program taught at Lakehead University, Thunder Bay, Canada. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Lakehead University’s Environmental Studies program studies environmental issues using a multidisciplinary approach. Students examine environmental issues and solutions through scientific analysis and socio-economic, cultural, and political actions and consequences. The program includes a core of common courses and additional courses required for a major in one of three disciplines: Biology, Earth Science, or Geography.

The program combines Science components with Social Sciences & Humanities components. Students can study through in-class lectures and experiential learning courses that include off-campus labs, field trips, and weekend excursions, with topics varying from year to year. Students who major in Geography may graduate with either an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies or an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Science, depending on Science or Social Sciences electives.
