Introduction

Biology is a Bachelor program taught at Mount Allison University, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Biology at Mount Allison University is the scientific study of living things—their form, function, origin, and behaviour. Students study disciplines that include cell biology, ecology, genetics and evolution, and animal and plant diversity. The curriculum includes first-year courses in introductory organismal and cell biology and biochemistry, then second-year courses divided into ecology, genetics and evolution, statistics, and form and function courses. Upper-year courses let students follow interests such as marine biology, aquaculture, developmental biology, applied genetics, environmental microbiology, and ornithology.

The program offers BSc major (60 credits), BSc honours (75 credits), and a minor in any degree (24 credits). Biology includes hands-on learning through research and laboratory experience. Students can participate in faculty-supervised independent research projects during summers or during academic terms. The Harold Crabtree Aqualab: Centre for Aquatic Sciences supports field-based aquatic research and lab-based studies, and the Digital Microscopy Facility and Environmental Analysis and Stable Isotope Laboratory provide additional research facilities.
