Bachelor's in Computer Science
Introduction
Computer Science is a Bachelor program taught at Mount Allison University, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
Mount Allison University’s Computer Science program studies computing across hands-on applications and pure theory. Students study the analysis of algorithms, computer architectures, operating systems, networks, and software design. The program also includes an appreciation of the historical, ethical, and social context of computing, and the responsibility of the computer professional and casual computer user in modern society.
The curriculum combines theory and practical application, with many offerings including a significant project component where students apply classroom material to real-world problems. Students can choose a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BSc) major or honours, or complete a minor in Computer Science. Each summer, faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offer research opportunities for undergraduate students.
Students can take courses such as COMP 1631 Introduction to Computer Science, COMP 2611 Data Structures and Algorithms I, and COMP 4721 Software Design, which culminates in a major project. Students also participate in programming competitions and events such as MtA Hacks.
