Introduction

Drama Studies is a Bachelor program taught at Mount Allison University, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Drama Studies at Mount Allison University provides an education in drama and theatre, introducing students to acting, production, directing, design, dramatic theory, and dramatic literature. Students begin with an introduction to drama and then move into courses in acting, production, directing, design, dramatic theory, and dramatic literature. In the final year of a major, students complete one or two independent projects in areas of special interest.

The program is designed to provide an education in drama rather than professional training for the theatre. Students use the Motyer-Fancy Theatre as a lab: it is a flexible black box theatre that produces up to 10 plays a year. Drama students have rehearsal and set design spaces and a costume shop, and students can also work on roles such as web and communications, front of house, and technical support.

Drama Studies is available as a Bachelor of Arts (BA) major (60 credits) or as a minor in any degree (24 credits). Participation in the theatre is open to all Mount Allison students, regardless of their chosen program of study.
