Bachelor's in Physics
Introduction
Physics is a Bachelor program taught at Mount Allison University, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Physics program at Mount Allison University includes the study of the physical world, from subatomic particles to the universe as a whole. Students develop fundamental concepts and mathematical formulation through a selected series of courses in physics and mathematics, from classical mechanics to modern relativistic, quantum, and nuclear theories.
Many upper-year options include astrophysics, quantum mechanics, electricity and magnetism, statistical mechanics, advanced physical chemistry, electronics, medical physics, thermodynamics, nuclei and fundamental particles, solid state physics, and energy production and the environment, plus modern optics.
Mount Allison University uses an experiential learning approach in many courses. Students learn through collaborative, hands-on activities and spend most of their time in collaborative student groups, applying physics directly. Introductory physics uses mini-lectures, lab work, and collaborative learning experiences. The program also offers undergraduate research opportunities through faculty-supervised independent research projects during summers or during academic terms.
The program is available as a Bachelor of Science (BSc) major or honours, and as a minor in any degree. Mount Allison University also offers a Minor in Applied Physics, a Minor in Astronomy, and BSc honours options including Mathematics and Physics, and Computer Science and Physics.
