Post-Degree Diploma in Management Science

Post-Degree Diploma in Management Science is a Masters program taught at Northern Lights College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.

Northern Lights College offers a Post-Degree Diploma in Management Science, a program designed for post-graduate students from different academic backgrounds. Students study management and economics, finance, and quantitative methods. Core coursework includes Principles of Economics (Micro and Macro), Principles of Management, Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Quantitative Methods for Business (or Introduction to Statistics), and Management Science.

The program is a two-year, 61-credit (915 hours) minimum study plan. Depending on start-date and academic progress, it may be completed in four semesters, with a possible fifth semester during the May-June intersession period. Coursework includes Data Analytics, Strategic Management, Principles of Corporate Finance I, Operations Management, and an Integrated Strategic Management Seminar. Students complete two closed elective courses in Year One and three closed elective courses in Year Two, with elective options listed under Closed Electives.

The minimum requirements for admission in Post-Degree Diploma in Management Science at Northern Lights College for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Northern Lights College.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Northern Lights College as pre-requiste for admission in Post-Degree Diploma in Management Science.

A. A minimum three-year degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Math, Engineering or other applicable area of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

B.

Domestic students and students from countries that practice Standard Written English (see Appendix A) must have official transcripts demonstrating that they have met the English Requirements: One of the following with a “C” grade or higher: English 12 or English Literature 12 or English First Peoples 12, ENGL 050, or ENGL 099.

Alternatively, any university-level English course with a “C” grade or higher. Students who do not meet one of the above English requirements must complete the NLC Writing Assessment for appropriate course placement.

C. International students who do not meet the requirement B. above, and domestic students who received their secondary education in French or another language, must show that they have met the NLC English requirement: see Appendix A (General Academic English Language Proficiency Requirements)

Applicants without a three-year degree, who are applying with an equivalent combination of education and experience, must demonstrate completion of the Math Requirement: One of the following with a ‘C’ grade or higher: BC Pre-calculus 12, BC Principles of Mathematics 12, MATH 050; or successful completion of the Calculus Readiness Assessment; or equivalent.

*Note: The Post-Degree Diploma in Management in Science alone does not meet the typical education requirements for a Master’s Degree program (or MBA) in Canada. Students planning to study at a Master’s Degree level in Canada should ensure that their prior education (a three or four year degree) meets the educational requirements for their intended program. The Post-Degree Diploma in Business Management is a capstone program that adds business management knowledge to an educated student’s portfolio.
