Introduction
Mental Health and Substance Use Certificate is a Diploma program taught at Northern Lights College, Canada. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.
Northern Lights College offers the Mental Health and Substance Use Certificate through a partnership with Selkirk College. Students complete online theory courses and one in-person practicum that prepares them to work in the multidisciplinary field of mental health and substance use support. The program integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications and focuses on the specific needs of clients experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.
The program is delivered using a blend of online theory courses and one practicum. During the first 14 weeks, students complete six online theory courses in a blended format (asynchronous and synchronous). Students then complete an in-person practicum over 5-6 weeks in their home community and place of hire, when possible. The program includes flexible study options.
