Introduction

To pursue a career in accounting, you can follow your BCom degree with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) certification.

Admission Requirements

The minimum requirements for admission in Bachelor of Commerce at University of Alberta for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

  • program specific academic requirment set by University of Alberta.
  • English Language OR any other language requirments as set by University of Alberta as pre-requiste for admission in Bachelor of Commerce.

Important information about admission to Business

There is no direct entry from high school into the Bachelor of Commerce program (BCom). Students must first complete a year of university in another Faculty or postsecondary institution and take courses in English, Economics, Mathematics and Statistics. Admission to the BCom is competitive based on performance in the required courses and a student's overall academic record.


 
Preprofessional Study Time: 1 year

24 required, transferable to the University. ( = units of course weight)

  1. Junior Level English (6), which includes any 100-level English (3) and a maximum of (3) in WRS
  2. ECON 101 (3)
  3. ECON 102 (3)
  4. MATH 154 (3)
  5. STAT 161 (3)

Admission Selection: Competitive. Qualified applicants will have completed their preprofessional year with all required preprofessional courses and a minimum of 24 University transferable courses. These applicants are ranked according to their grade point average in the most recent Fall/Winter (September to April consisting of at least 15. Applicants must possess a minimum GPA of 2.3 before their application will be considered. For more information, please visit the BCom website.
