The Master of Land and Water Systems (MLWS) is a professional master’s degree focused on managing land and water as an integrated system. UBC frames the program around science-based skills, training, and knowledge to address issues such as food security, maintenance of ecological services, restoration of degraded lands, climate change adaptation, and resource conservation. The degree is offered by UBC’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems with a specialization in Land and Water Systems.

The MLWS is a 12-month program delivered in person at UBC Vancouver. The program includes coursework only: 33 credits total, with 21 credits of required courses and 12 credits of electives. Each student must register for LWS 548 (6 credits) and complete a “Major Project,” which may be conducted off-campus and co-supervised by a recognized professional and a UBC Faculty member.
